Alexandra “Alex” Scott bravely battled childhood cancer for seven and a half years. Two days before her first birthday Alex was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a difficult to cure childhood cancer. At the age of four, Alex decided to do something to make a cure more likely. She opened her first lemonade stand in July 2000 with the idea of donating the proceeds to “her hospital”. Each year thereafter, Alex had a lemonade stand in her front yard. As word spread of her fundraising, ndonations poured in from around the world. For the next four years, despite her deteriorating health, Alex held an annual lemonade stand to raise money for childhood cancer research. Following her inspirational example, thousands of lemonade stands have been held across the country by children, schools, businesses, and organizations, all to benefit Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer. Together, over $20 million has been raised to fight nchildhood cancer. Alex continually amazed and inspired all who knew nher with her positive outlook and incredible strength. Alex passed away in August of 2004, but her memory and legacy live on through all who support her cause…. finding a cure for childhood cancer.
